SaturdayJust Ed and DB5 attended this one due to the flipper breaking on Turbulence in the week leading up to the event. Got the event in plenty of time despite getting lost in Portsmouth, unloaded the car and set up next to Bonx (FW). DB5 was not competing at this round but I was up for all the whiteboard fights, only missed one all weekend. The first fight DB5 lost the chain on the weapon but was still driving at the end of the fight, even after being rammed at full speed into the arena wall by pillow torque. The two memorable points of the day was Shane Lale's birthday present, where he recieved a heavyweight from his family, which he dubed Tilly's Revenge. Tim Bence and I spent a large part of today trying to get this robot working without much success. The other was the final melay where 7/8 heavies smashed the arena floor and stormII fell through. The second fight of the day saw DB5 come up against its new nemesis, Scorpian Evilution. One hit from Evil bent 2mm of titanium and two layers of 8mm T6 ally, very impressive! Started stripping DB5 down to bend it back but it got 2 late. In the evening I retired to a local Travel Inn with the MAD and Kronic teams, where we sat in the bar and watched the fights on the camcorder. SundayGot back to the centre by 10 on Sunday so I could finish repairs to the robot, thanks to John for helping with a lump hammer. Missed the first whiteboard as i was just putting DB5 back together. Had three more fights during the two shows today which one ended in the link flying out of the arena but the other two DB5 was still moving at the end after taking more beatings. It was a very enjoyable weekend and good to meet many of the Dutch and Belgian roboteers. Thanks to all the crew for a great show again, bring on the next round for which DB5 will be very ready!
