SaturdayI left home to collect Dave and Becki and Turbulence of course at 9am DB5 was ready as it ever was going to be. After a stop for food and a long journey we arrived at Leas Cliff Hall, which as the name suggests is halfway down a cliff. The hall was great bit getting the robots and all the kit down was another thing. The draw was made before the first show and DB5 was drawn agaisnt Alpha, Pillow Torque, Stiff Breeze and Batterbot. All these robots have no weapons but all have more pushing power than DB5. But the fight went well until I lost control although the robot had power it wouldn't respond. It turned out that the reciever had come unplugged. Turbulence also had its first propper fight with a working weapon which it won. The fight was agaist Weierd Alice, Tilly and Beast. Only two robots were alive at the end and Turbulence won on a crowd decision. We had problems all weekend with Wierd Alice, Turbulence always jumped when the turned on the Tx even though we were no where near their frequency. In the evening we got pizza and headed to the hotel. I spent much of the evening in the bar with the Storm, Pillow Torque and Scorpian teams, cheers guys. SundayAll three of us had breakfast with the Pillow Torque and Scorpian teams before we headed back to the hall for the 11am show. This saw some amazing fights, including Thz verus Merlin. Merlin got well and truly bashed , Terrorhurtz was a worthy winner. Nothing new there! Turbulence had a couple of run outs, again suffering interfearence problems from WA. DB5 also had a couple of fights, which went ok with the only damage sustained being a dropped chain. The featherweight trophy was eventually won by Stiff Breeze, the heavyweight trophy was contested by Thz and Kronic. My money had been on Kronic from the first event of the tour and they didn't let me down and it was a fantastic fight. Getting home was a knightmare with everyone trying to leave at the same time. We eventually got back to Dave's about 10pm. DB5 will probably remain unchanged for next year. Turbulence will have some pretty major work done on it after we have noticed some things that will make it a lot better when changed. There will hopefully be a second featherweight to join DB5 also, but time may mean it won't be finished for a while yet. See you all next year! |
