RR + Team Mute: Stoke Smash 2004

This was the first event since Debenham that all three of us had attended, we arrived just after 9.30am but didn't start fighting until 12 this was due to a few problems with the mics and the arena. But I was more confident that CBF, which was the only robot we took as Bodger is still in Wales, would perform. And I was right. The first fight was against Blue, Micromute 2 and Flipper. Flipper and Blue were soon imobilized which left MM2 and CBF to go through, but I was able to give MM2 a good run for its money in a pushing match. Still no weapon on CBF just didn't have enough time the previous night/week. Next I went in for a friendly fight with Staglet which it won as I just couldn't escape the jaws. Then was the quarter final against Pillow Torque, which has 10 times the power of CBF so I wasn't expecting to stand any chance, thanks Mr Hoppitt for backing me up there. Jenny was having a few problems with control and ground clearence as the arena at this stage was a bit of a mess. Most of the time I could get around the side and push them where I wanted. CBF was judged to be more aggressive and went throught to the semi final. I was drawn against G3 which I was glad of as I needed a test against a decent flipper. And a test it was, G3 was faster on the spot which meant that I had almost no chance of pushing it from the side or rear. I got around a couple of times but he got 34 flips in and I was out.
I was very pleased today as CBF had very few technical problems apart from the last melay with Alpha and Kenny where the ariel got wrapped around a wheel and ripped the tyre off. Next week is GGHW should be a great weekend.
