SaturdayHaving packed up the night before thanks to my brother and Lisa for helping loading the car. Lisa and I spend most of friday evening working on Turbulence to get it finished for today. Lisa, Becky, Dave and I left about 8.30am to get down to the event for 12.30pm. Not going to go into too much detail as i can't remember it (only just got around to writing this report a week later). Our 1st round competition fight was against Big Nipper and Ripper. We managed to get under Ripper often and at one point lifted both other robots up, but towards the end of the fight Turbulence went out of control, something that continued to happen all weekend. As a result we lost the fight. The second fight of the day for Turb was against Irow Awe and Kan-Opener, the latter being a robot that we really didn't fancy until all the sides have been converted to Hardox. Anyway things were going ok, until they pulled us over the pit just as it was starting to decend. We flipped ourselves out but then we notcied that the wheel cover had been crushed in onto the wheel, which was jammed. It took Alan Gibble with his lynisher and John Bell's lump hammer to get it straight so it would fit back onto the robot. Many thanks guys. In the evening we went to our hotel and after food watched Team MAD's videos of the day's fights.
SundayTurbulence had one fight in the opening session a melay with 5 others including Hades, Beast, Knightmare and Iron Awe. Which again the controller crashed and we went into a spin, again we lost. The second session the control got worse, after the first flip the controller crashed and we got flipped straight out I'd like to say it was my fault as it was my first time driving in a fight but i don't think it was. Anyway the fight had to be stopped as we didn't have control and it was outside the arena. We think to problem has to be something to do with the gyro causing trouble for the Vantec, so the gyro will be straight out for the next event. We got home about 10pm. Not the best weekend for Turbulence and don't get me started about the feathers. Still it was a very good event, even if Ian Watts needs some new jokes!
