RR: Royal International Air Tattoo - RAF Fairford.

Ed and Lisa attended with DB5.
Saturday
I'd travelled down to Lisa's, in Gloucester, on Friday night and I headed down to Fairford for 7.30am on Saturday. After collecting my security pass and having a vehicle inspection I got onto the base. I then got a bit lost before finding the robot zone. DB5 only had two fights on Saturday which it did ok in, the left gearbox was starting to get very tight and I had some problems with one of the speed controllers. This was fixed first thing on Sunday so was ok for the rest of the event. The highlights of the day were the red arrows air display as well as M2's air display breaking the arena roof in the process.

Sunday

I returned to the base on Sunday with Lisa again got passes and proceded onto the base. Sunday was a better day of fighting for the featherweights as more fights were put on the whiteboard. Beast won the heavyweight competition and Little Hitter won the featherweight competition, so congrats to John and the Nipper family respectivly. The highlights of Sunday were two featherweight fights, firstly Little spinner went up against Batterbot which got battered. Bits of aluminium from batter went everywhere, which was brilliant to watch. The second fight was Scorpian Evilution (because it is Evil!) against DB5. DB5 was torn apart by Evil' armour and chunks of the chassis went all over and DB5 was rather uncermoniously swept out of the arena at the end of the contest. Not that there was ever much contest for the win but we just wanted to put on a good show for the audience. A very long weekend the longest Ive ever done, but possibly the most rewarding, don't ask me why as it is going to take hours to repair DB5. There is a long break before the next event in september so I can afford some time off before I need to start rebuilding the robot.
