Featherweight Diary

    News Archive 2002

  • 30/12/02 - Almost finished, just the electonics and one more polycarb panel to cut and fit and according to my inaccurate scales it weighs 11.5kgs so it should be ok
  • 29/12/02 - The chassis is nearly finished and the motors and batteries are mounted. Should be within the weight limit, but i will have to put it all together first.
  • 19/12/02 - More progress but I still think that it is going to be overweight.
  • 18/12/02 - Not much recently but now i am back home chassis construction has started, but already having weight problems. Hopefully redution will scrape it under the limit.

  • 25/11/02 - Update: A picture from GGHW and the original designs of CBFmk2
  • 19/11/02 - A change in layout of components means that i can shorten the robot by 4cm, believe it or not this should overcome a lot of my weight problems as long as I lighten the wheels.
  • 19/11/02 - A costing of the robot can now be found on the design page. Also on the design page an updated image of CBFmk3.
  • 16/11/02 - Finally got round to doing a short right up of this years Robot Rumble at Debenham.
  • 13/11/02 - New weigtht calculations show that the upgraded robot will be almost 1kg overweight, so lots of weight saving will be needed.
  • 12/11/02 - The Robot is in pieces ready for a build at Christmas, constant running has revealed weaknesses in the chassis. Upgrades planned include Electronise speed controllers and radio gear upgrade.
  • 10/11/02 - Addition of CBF to FRA (Featherweight Robot Assosiation)
  • 20/08/02 - After 3 days solid last week i got a new working robot for The Great Gloucestershire Heritage Weekend. Thanks to Alan Gribble for helping me get a working bot for the Sunday, and although I didn't win anything it is the most successful robot our team have built so far.
  • 06/07/02 - Just got back from a good day at Orton War Bots which Dave(Gladiator) and Jon T(Geeza) organised, unfortunatly my feather had to be finished at the last minute and therefore didn't work until after the event. Oh well, have also broken my motor shaft, and need to replace the motor.
  • 20/06/02 - Just finished my new axles, should be finished on time now.
  • 18/06/02 - Decided during an exam that i would have to change the existing drive setup which would take a few hours to do. Also have decide to enter my first event with this robot, a small roboteers event which is being run by our team and Team Gladiator.
  • 22/05/02 - Unfortunately more drive problems, and it won't be finished this week as i had planned and hoped.
  • 17/05/02 - Havent done any work this week as I have been too busy leaving school and getting drunk.
  • 14/05/02 - Finished the robot finally, it worked for a few seconds then the chain came off. The plate for the gear needs to be remade.
