International Easter Robot Rumble - 2003 at RAF Bentwaters.

This was our first event of the year and Jon and I went down to Ipswich with Dave from Turbine. We took CBF Mk3 (Mk4 was not finished in time) and Jonslaught(Jon's Antweight). We set off at 05:30 on Saturday morning and arrived at Hanger 45 at about 08:00. After techical checks and the usual disoranisation of any major event with people coming and going all over the shop, things setted down and the audience for the moring session arrived. Our first fight was of the Antweight kind, which Jonslaught won by pushing Buzzant TNG out the arena(First time for everything hey Jon). In the first round CBF was drawn against Inexistance and Cut_Let. Anyway there was so much interference that i couldn't control the robot full stop so we went out of Saturday's competion. In the evening there was a display of Dave Gamble's (Tornado) Tesla coil. After that impressive display we went back to our hotel.
Sunday was a much better performace by CBF, we arrived and after the heavyweight draw was made, which threw up a few good fights, the feather draw was made. We were drawn against MAC, Whipper and Black and Blue, which is a very powerfull bar spinner. This fight went very well and i was able to push all the robots around but soon MAC and Whipper were disabled (not by me I might add, BnB takes the credit) and that left me and BnB to go through but not before they could inflict quite a lot of damage. In the end the battery link popped out but we were still through. Looking at the damage later there was major structural damage as well as cosmetic damage to the armour, but it would fight again. The semi final was against Whipper, Rampage and Big Bad Duff, I felt quitely confident as i ran both ways up and there was only one flipper and no other active weapons. But i was flipped and the structural damage from the previous round meant that is was grounded on one side even though both wheels were still going round. I was dispointed but happy with the overall performance. We had a great weekend and hope to attend next year.
